     KUTLWANO SHALL RETURN

Surely 2014 has been an eventful year. A lot, both positive and negative, has happened. We have cried, we have laughed and this is what makes life.

Otherwise life would be boring were it to stay the same every day. I mean we cannot laugh forever or cry endlessly. In philosophy they say everything has a point where it reaches a dead end. Thus, when you cry, you will certainly stop crying.

When you hurt, certainly it will come to an end. Likewise, when you laugh, certainly you will stop laughing and when you are happy, at some point you will get hurt. Therefore, our existence as human beings is a negotiation or vacillation between these binary codes. In both cases you will at some point reach an aporia (dead end).

This is what makes life interesting. As we wind down and look forward to the new year, we can look back with mixed feelings that 2014 has been an eventful year.

Botswana hosted one of the biggest international events ever – Gaborone 2014 Youth Games. We celebrated and put our country on the international map. We also held peaceful elections as we made sure our democratic values were upheld and advanced further.

We also cried as we lost important figures in our society. Some lost friends and their loved ones. That is life. It has its ups and downs.

As the Kutlwano family, we have also had our best and bad moments. We cherished a lot of things that made us who we are and saw the magazine coming out each month. However, it has all not been so rosy. Sometimes we struggled to reach out to you our dear reader.

Lately, the magazine has been facing numerous problems, owing to a number of circumstances most of which beyond our control. This calls for introspection. In order for us to continue existing, we have to take stock of ourselves. What is it that we need to do in order to give you the best product our dear reader? How can we reach out to you our dear reader?

These are some of the questions that we have had to ask ourselves. In doing so, we found it better or best to suspend our operations, for the time being, so that when we come back to you our dear reader, we have answered all the questions and we do not leave you with a lingering mind.

As such Kutlwano will not be coming out, beginning this month, to give us time to do a proper and thorough assessment or analysis so that we come out with a better product that will serve your interests.

We are going underground for the time being to revamp your favourite magazine and when we resurface we hope the new look Kutlwano will be something you deserve. Please look out for the new look Kutlwano as time goes on. When it is about to hit the streets, we will certainly advise you to rush to your nearest outlet to grab a copy. Please read Page 70 to know how Kutlwano started.

May I also take this opportunity to wish you our dear reader a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!  Thank you!
